Rare QEII Godron Parker Duofold Pen Set, (Fountain Pen, Ballpoint and Pencil)

Queen Elizabeth II first granted Parker a Royal Warrant in 1962 and this was

followed in 1990 by the granting of a Royal Warrant by Prince Charles, the Prince of

Wales. This has now been re-affirmed by King Charles III in May 2024. To be granted

a warrant, the recipient must be committed to the highest standards of service,

quality, excellence and craftsmanship, and have made significant supplies to the

Royal Household during the previous seven years

As holders of the Royal Warrant, Parker supplied pens to the Royal Household,

some for members of the Royal Family, some for staff and some as gifts for visiting

dignitaries.

This set was produced for the Queen or Prince Philip but does not seem to have got much further than that, there are no images of them using one that we are aware of but one other set resides at:

The Parker private museum in London which opened in 2015, and it was this set that

Geoff Parker, Great Grandson of George Parker took on his tour of Asia along with

other historical pens of interest.

The fountain pen differs from the production model in that it has a cartouche on the

cap whilst the ballpoint and pencil have a cartouche just before the nose cone. Each

cartouche is engraved with the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II. The set is

presented in a stunning bespoke wooden storage box which also displays the Royal

Cypher in gold set into a deep gloss piano lacquer finish.

Parker first introduced the Mark 1 Duofold Silver Godron in early 1992. It was

produced from sterling silver but because of stringent hallmarking laws in the UK, it

was described as White Metal, although some pens were hallmarked in France.

Production did not last for long, possibly due to the stigma of being known as white

metal rather than sterling silver, and all Mark 1 Duofolds were discontinued prior to

the introduction of the Mark II in 1995.
