In 2000 (Year of the Dragon), Parker in Japan began producing Maki-e pens in very limited editions for the Japanese market.

They were based on standard black UK made Parker Duofold Centennials and were made with age-old lacquer techniques.

The first design, the Year of the Dragon, was made in a Limited Edition of only fifteen pens.

But in spite of being very high priced there was such a demand that Parker, at the end of the very same year, commissioned a young Maki-e Artist Tatsuya Todo (Kosetsu) to make this particular pen.

About Artist:

This pen was hand-painted by Tatsuya Todo (Kosetsu). He is an established maki-e artist who carries a strong name in the urushi fountain pen world.

He was trained under the notable Masanori Omote (another artisan that works with Danitrio). He has had his pieces exhibited in numerous urushi exhibitions and holds the Dento Kogei-shi title, which an honorary title meaning "master of traditional crafts" and is given only to a select few artisans who have a significant contribution to their craft.

Historically meaningful Maki-e Duofold model that bears witness of Parker’s desire to combine European writing culture with Far Eastern tradition.

This pen comes in it’s original box, with all it’s paperwork, what you see is what you get.
